Going Deep & Flowing for His Glory!

Think Deep: Fallen Angel??

Message notes from a special service at Pathway. Ezekiel 28

  1. Satan is not the opposite of God.
  2. Maybe the opposite of Michael the Arch Angel.
  3. Satan was beautiful and blameless.
  4. He was the worship leader in charge of the Cherubim .  v.13- KJV and Isaiah 14:11 talk about how satan was the song master of Heaven.  He had pipes and tambourine’s built into him.  He had all the sounds our current instruments can make built into him.
2 Thessalonian’s 2:7
Isaiah 14:11-      He became proud because he got a look at himself.  He was beautiful and it got to his head.  He was so deceived.
  • The I will’s that are found here.
    • I will have God’s Place.  He was coveting.  Wanting that which doesn’t belong to him.
    • I will have God’s Position.  God was in control but satan wanted to be in charge of all angels.
    • I will have God’s Control.  I want to be in control of the universe.
    • I will have God’s perfection.   Satan only reflected the Glory of God.  He did not have God’s perfection.
    • I will have no one ruling over me.  I want to posses it all.  Matthew 4 Satan thinks it all his.
Revelations 12- Other Angels were affected by satans sin.
How could a perfect being fall?  The freedom to chose.  He didn’t create robots.  He wants to see people chose Him?
Hell was prepared for satan and the fallen angels not for us!  We were not destined for hell.  We were destined to reflect Gods Glory.
Names of Satan
  1. Accuser of the brethern.
  2. Our adversary.   1 Peter 5:8
  3. Deceiver and a liar.
  4. Prince of the power of the air
  5. Prince of this world.
  6. Roaring lion.
  7. The tempter.
  8. The serpent.

Procrastination is one of the biggest tools of the satan.  What is God calling you to do where satan is speaking lies of procrastination to you? 2 Corinthians 10- You and I have been given divine weapons to pull down strongholds. What does it mean that satan is a defeated foe?

Gotta read this

Desperate for His Presence: God's Design to Transform Your Life and Your CityJust started reading Desperate for His Presence and it is a most read for anyone who is interested in the God of the Bible. I dont know if I have ever underlined so many things in the first 40 pages of a book. Looking forward to the rest of it.

People who are desperate for God’s presence move beyond convenience and personal comfort.  They have gotten hold of something in their spirit, and they cannot let go.  For them, Jesus is not a religious concept-He is reality. Our relationship with Him cannot simply be added to our life like an appendage. He is not a lucky charm we carry in our pocket to protect us from bad things or bring us good fortune. He is God!!! We have many methods and plans about how to make people feel welcome in the church.  Many of those methods are successful in drawing people, but are they drawing the presence of the Lord?

Confidenent that God will finish the work

This morning I was reading in Philippians 1 and God continued to stir my heart regarding the way we look at other people. Check out what Paul says regarding his relationship with the Philippians.

Philippians 1:3-6
3. I thank my God every time I remember you.
4. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
5. because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,
6. being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Often in our lives we try and change those who are struggling or not living the way that we think they should be.  In this passage Paul say’s he is praying for them and trusting that God will continue to work in their lives.  What would happen if we decided we would partner with people and encourage them in their walk with God while praying for them and trusting that God will be the one who finishes what He starts?

Psalms 138:8-  The LORD will fulfill [his purpose] for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever– do not abandon the works of your hands.

God help me to love people where they are at.  Help me to encourage them instead of trying to change them.  Help me to pray for them and trust that you will fulfill your purpose in their hearts.

Tiger “Woods” in You

Read this well written article this morning and thought I would share it with you.

The Tiger (Woods) in You

Paul Edwards

“The Paul Edwards Program,” WLQV Detroit

December 9, 2009

Prior to this recent series of revelations, there wasn’t a man on the planet who in some sense didn’t want to be Tiger Woods. Tiger is good looking. He’s physically fit. He’s a world-class athlete. He has a beautiful wife and two beautiful kids. He’s rich beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. He had a father who loved him—not just in words, but in action, pouring himself into his son, building a love that survives to this day, in many ways making Tiger the man he became.

Determined to see fruit

This morning I spent some time reading in Philippians chapter 1.  To many this is a common passage but something different stuck out to me this morning as I was reading.

21-22.  For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.  But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me;  and I do not know which to choose.

Some questions for us to think about.

  1. Is Paul saying I am determined, that if I continue to live in this body, that I will work hard so that I see God producing fruit through my life?
    • If so, how can this  challenge us in our lives?  Are you determined to see fruit produced?
  2. Or is Paul saying God has opened a door and I already know that the fruit is already being produced?

Study this passage a bit deeper here.  http://www.biblestudytools.com/asv/philippians/passage.aspx?q=Philippians+1:21-22
